About The Position

On-Call Shelter Staff: Make a Difference in Your Community Are you passionate about creating safe, supportive environments for those in need? We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Shelter Staff on an on-call basis. In this vital role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the well-being of shelter residents, overseeing daily operations, and providing a stable, welcoming space for both clients and volunteers. As Shelter Staff, your primary duties include monitoring the facility, supporting clients through crisis intervention, and employing trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques. You'll help maintain cleanliness and organization within the shelter, assist with meal setups, and communicate critical information to leadership for effective follow-up. This position offers valuable ongoing training to enhance your skills and grow within the role. Flexible On-Call Opportunities On-call staff are typically guaranteed at least one shift per month, with the possibility of additional shifts based on shelter needs. However, there may be times when no shifts are available. You'll have the flexibility to step in when required, making a meaningful impact while maintaining a work-life balance. Who Should Apply? Ideal candidates will have an Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field, and experience working with homeless populations. We're looking for individuals who can handle dynamic, sometimes challenging environments with compassion and professionalism. Basic computer skills, strong communication abilities, and the physical capacity to perform light cleaning and maintenance tasks are also essential.
