About The Position

Are you passionate about supporting animal welfare behind the scenes? We're looking for a dedicated part-time Shelter Assistant to help keep our operations running smoothly. In this hands-on role, you'll prep food and enrichment items, organize supplies, assist with cleaning and sanitation, and support teams across the shelter, all while contributing to a compassionate environment for animals in need. This position is part-time, requiring full-day shifts on Sundays and Mondays. Purpose of Position: This position provides support to shelter operations by completing assigned cleaning and organizing duties in non-animal areas; prepping food and enrichment supplies; stocking and maintaining organization of equipment and supplies throughout the shelter. This position will also assist other operations departments as needed and as assigned by the manager/team leader.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently while following specific procedures and protocols
  • Ability to follow timelines for projects, accomplish multiple tasks, and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment
  • High level of personal responsibility, attention to detail, and punctuality
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Work Experience: One year experience in a fast-paced, task-oriented role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with and handling animals in a shelter or similar environment
  • Experience in a veterinary setting
  • If driving a company vehicle, valid driver’s license with insurable driving record

Responsibilities

  • Assist with laundry, dishes, cage wash, and cleaning of non-animal areas.
  • Interact with all departments and assist with additional services such as deep cleaning, contagion exposure cleaning, and dish washing.
  • Monitor, organize, and maintain food, supplies, and cleanliness of all food prep and storage areas.
  • Perform supply inventory and assist with maintenance of equipment.
  • Prep and maintain enrichment items.
  • Organize and maintain donations as they are received.
  • Organize and maintain supply organization and cleanliness of the order receiving area.
  • Contribute to and lead initiatives to improve processes and procedures.
