About The Position

Are you passionate about supporting animal welfare behind the scenes? We're looking for a dedicated part-time Shelter Assistant to help keep our operations running smoothly. In this hands-on role, you'll prep food and enrichment items, organize supplies, assist with cleaning and sanitation, and support teams across the shelter, all while contributing to a compassionate environment for animals in need. This position is part-time, requiring full-day shifts on Sundays and Mondays. Purpose of Position: This position provides support to shelter operations by completing assigned cleaning and organizing duties in non-animal areas; prepping food and enrichment supplies; stocking and maintaining organization of equipment and supplies throughout the shelter. This position will also assist other operations departments as needed and as assigned by the manager/team leader.

Requirements

Ability to work independently while following specific procedures and protocols
Ability to follow timelines for projects, accomplish multiple tasks, and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment
High level of personal responsibility, attention to detail, and punctuality
Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to effectively work in a team environment
Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Work Experience: One year experience in a fast-paced, task-oriented role.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with and handling animals in a shelter or similar environment
Experience in a veterinary setting
If driving a company vehicle, valid driver’s license with insurable driving record

Responsibilities

Assist with laundry, dishes, cage wash, and cleaning of non-animal areas.
Interact with all departments and assist with additional services such as deep cleaning, contagion exposure cleaning, and dish washing.
Monitor, organize, and maintain food, supplies, and cleanliness of all food prep and storage areas.
Perform supply inventory and assist with maintenance of equipment.
Prep and maintain enrichment items.
Organize and maintain donations as they are received.
Organize and maintain supply organization and cleanliness of the order receiving area.
Contribute to and lead initiatives to improve processes and procedures.
