About The Position

Tessera is seeking a skilled, dedicated, and safety-conscious Sheet Metal Worker/Welder to join our team at USAFA. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Interpret blueprints, models, and specifications to plan and execute sheet metal fabrication and welding tasks Operate sheet-metal machinery and hand tools to cut, bend, form, and assemble components for structural, HVAC, and mechanical systems Perform welding using gas, brazing, and arc processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) across a variety of applications including pipefitting, structural supports, and equipment repairs Weld, inspect, and maintain pressure vessels and steam systems in compliance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code standards Conduct thermal cutting, grinding, and finishing operations; diagnose and repair cracks, corrosion, and fatigue in pressurized systems Collaborate with inspectors and engineers to ensure code compliance; maintain documentation and support cross-functional maintenance tasks as needed

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in welding, sheet metal work, and industrial maintenance
AWS Certified Welder (CW) required
Familiarity with ASME Section IX and D1.1/D9.1 codes required
Proficiency in basic shop math and blueprint reading
Skilled in using inspection tools and fabrication equipment
Knowledge of welding safety standards and pressure vessel codes
Strong communication and documentation skills
Competency in using computers and relevant software
A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

Experience with pressure vessel and steam system welding preferred
QC7 Supplement C (Sheet Metal) preferred

Responsibilities
