About The Position

The Sheet Metal Inputter is responsible for accurately entering, preparing, and processing sheet metal fabrication data into the company's production software systems. This role ensures that work orders, material specifications, dimensions, and fabrication details are correctly input to support efficient manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and experience working in a sheet metal or manufacturing environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)
1–3 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Strong computer skills; experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organizational and time-management skills

Nice To Haves

Experience with CNC programming or nesting software
Knowledge of sheet metal materials, gauges, and fabrication processes
Understanding of production workflows and lean manufacturing principles
Familiarity with CAD software (Trimble, Practi-Cam) is an asset

Responsibilities

Enter and verify sheet metal job specifications into fabrication software systems
Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure accurate data entry
Input dimensions, material types, gauges, quantities, and fabrication requirements
Prepare and release work orders to production
Coordinate with engineering, drafting, and production teams to resolve discrepancies
Ensure correct nesting, part numbering, and file management for CNC machines
Maintain accurate records of revisions and updates
Perform quality checks on data before production release
Assist with documentation, reporting, and inventory tracking
Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline input processes
