About The Position

The Sheet Metal Fabrication Technician I’s primary job function is to operate the equipment and execute processes/procedures dedicated to producing quality sheet metal products within Delkor Metalworks. Equipment and processes include but is not limited to: Laser, Press Brake, Finishing Stations, Parts Removal, and Material Moving. The Sheet Metal Fabrication Technician I job description is intended to point out major duties and authorities within the position, but it is not limited to these items.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and interpret prints.
  • Proficient with basic math skills and conversion from imperial to metric system.
  • Knowledgeable on the basic parts for manufacturing machines.
  • Able to troubleshoot and independently problem solve issues related to machining.
  • Well organized with a strong aptitude for details.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicates effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities.
  • Able to maintain a positive work environment in challenging situations.
  • Stand and walk for most of the workday.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading spreadsheets and other documents.
  • Communicate effectively to give and receive detailed information through verbal and/or non-verbal communication in person or using the telephone; exchange ideas and accurately convey detailed information to customers, co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and others inside and outside the company.
  • Possess arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull machining parts and the like typically used by Metalworks.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of experience setting up and operating CNC machines preferred.
  • Exposure to programming using nesting and or bend software packages

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from detailed shop drawings, blueprints and custom sketches.
  • Set up and operate equipment.
  • Work with a safety-first attitude and encourage others to do the same.
  • Consistently deliver quality parts to the customer by meeting or exceeding Metalworks’ quality goals.
  • Execute the operation of assigned equipment, monitoring the process closely to ensure accuracy and quality. This includes but is not limited to starting and stopping the machine, adjusting parameters as needed during the process, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
  • Assist with managing raw materials inventory, including receiving, storing, and organizing materials for fabrication jobs.
  • Assist and train other technicians as needed or upon request.
