The Shallow Subsidy Case Manager at Advocate Program, Inc. is responsible for assisting veterans in securing stable housing through the Shallow Subsidy Service. This role involves developing housing plans, advocating for veterans' needs, and providing referrals to various services. The Case Manager will work closely with veterans and their families to identify resources and support systems, ensuring they have access to necessary services to prevent homelessness and maintain stable housing.

  • Assist veterans accepted to SSVF Shallow Subsidy Service.
  • Create housing plans for veterans in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.
  • Develop trusting relationships with veterans and their families.
  • Identify available resources and support systems for veterans.
  • Advocate for veterans' needs and refer them to legal services as needed.
  • Screen veterans for enrollment in Miami VA healthcare services.
  • Provide referrals to community-based agencies for additional resources.
  • Assist veterans with applications for VA benefits and other programs.
  • Evaluate veterans' needs for financial assistance and support services.
  • Assist with household budgeting and refer for credit counseling if needed.
  • Communicate with veterans and landlords regarding documentation for financial assistance.
  • Maintain a caseload of 30-40 veteran cases.
  • Advise on SSVF funding and follow up on housing issues.
  • Disseminate client satisfaction surveys as required by the VA.
  • Participate in in-service training to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain required documentation in CRM software and assist with program reports.
  • Military Veteran of combat zone or member of military family desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Miami-Dade County and local veteran services preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Strong observation and analytical skills needed.
  • Ability to learn human services skills and aid fellow veterans required.
  • Valid Florida driver's license required.
  • Experience with veterans or the homeless population.
  • Current training on military family benefits offered by the VA.
  • Familiarity with military family challenges.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly recommended.
