About The Position

Tnemec is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Shade Technician to support production by ensuring color accuracy, quality, and consistency in coating batches. This role is critical to maintaining production flow and meeting Tnemec’s high standards for safety and quality. The Shade Technician position combines hands-on work with precision, technical skill, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Five (5) or more years of related manufacturing experience preferred
  • Forklift certification required or willingness to obtain
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in warm environments

Responsibilities

  • Select appropriate tub size and prepare mixing equipment for production batches
  • Accurately weigh base materials and colorants per batch ticket specifications
  • Tint batches and perform drawdowns to verify correct shade
  • Measure and adjust viscosity to required standards
  • Coordinate with production schedules to support timely workflow
  • Gather, inspect, and prepare containers prior to filling
  • Set up and operate filling equipment, filters, and Finex machines
  • Label, skid, and prepare finished products for warehouse storage or shipment
  • Clean and maintain pans, tanks, and tools
  • Assist with moving materials and supplies within the department
  • Operate pumps, agitators, meters, and forklifts as needed
  • Follow all PPE, HMIS, and safety procedures
  • Accurately complete batch tickets and production documentation
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the work area
  • Assist other departments and suggest process improvements as appropriate
