About The Position

SGA provides a wide range of social services in some of Chicago's most challenged and consistently underserved communities and creates long-term and community-wide change. The Let’s Talk About Reproductive Health program is focused on enhancing positive youth development by increasing awareness around sexual risk avoidance education (SREA), through communitywide education, facilitated sessions with youth, and family engagement.

Requirements

  • High School education required; Associates/Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with training and community engagement
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals and community groups.
  • Outstanding communication, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Great integrity and a proven ability to operate as a team player.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or the organization.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to establish helping relationships with families of varying educational, experiential, and socio-economic backgrounds and handle emergency and crisis situations.
  • Willing to assist all team members to meet deadlines and ensure successful events.
  • Takes the initiative to complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • Function effectively in a fast paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality and exercises discretion and independent judgment in executing tasks.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office tools and inputting services in an online database.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Automobile Insurance.

  • Bilingual/Bicultural in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Schedule may include occasional evening and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, coordinate, and arrange logistics for outreach, training, and community events.
  • Experience in a school-based setting.
  • Conduct outreach to market and coordinate trainings targeting a variety of stakeholders including but not limited to schools, libraries, park districts, social service organizations, etc.
  • Facilitate parents and youth discussions around development, sexual health, and communication.
  • Build a network of prevention resources to be available to the community.
  • Provide community awareness to decrease stigma against people making positive choices for healthy relationships.
  • Collect data on activities conducted and submit data entry and maintenance of in-person and virtual trainings or information sessions.
  • Work cooperatively with other community agencies, as appropriate, and in agreement with supervisor.
  • Assist in development of promotional and marketing materials
  • Responsible for all administrative duties and requirements to the program, including but not limited to, reporting requirements, documentation of activities, submission of all required paperwork, preparing purchase orders, etc.
  • Participate in community network meetings and funder required meetings and training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
