About The Position

Summary The Sewing Lead performs all tasks involved in the sewing department including cutting, measuring, sewing and inspecting. This position is responsible for the continual assessment of department processes to ensure the team is operating at the highest level of speed and quality to meet client expectations.

Requirements

  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to read and understand patterns and prints
  • Willingness and flexibility to perform various job tasks in the shop

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Industrial Sewing experience is a must
  • 6 months previous experience in manufacturing
  • Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting may be required throughout the workday.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment to cut, sew and adjust machine functions as necessary using dials, pedals, levers, panel buttons, etc
  • Perform hot knife cuts and sew gaskets
  • Sew rod pockets and/or keder/gasket to the edges of printed graphics
  • Monitor quality throughout the shift by inspecting each part before and after it is produced for dirt, debris, and quality
  • Keep supplies readily available and organized
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Count, sort, and stack finished work pieces and dispose of waste material
  • Clearly label raw material, work in progress, and finished goods
  • Direct employees as needed to increase productivity and complete work on time
  • Assist in production and packaging areas as time allows
  • Flexibility to work between jobs, job classifications, and buildings as directed by management
  • Clean workstation and the shop floor as needed
  • Provide training and support for less skilled employees
  • Ensure that company’s safety regulations and procedures are followed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
