About The Position

Tersus Solutions is seeking a Sewing and Repair Manager to oversee our rapidly expanding repair department. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, developing the skills of our sewing and repair technicians, and managing the repairs department. As the Manager, you will be the go to person on technical repair methods for technical and lifestyle apparel, outdoor gear, footwear, bedding, and any future product categories. You will manage the people, the equipment, and the technical protocols that make Tersus a leader in textile circularity. You will also manage fast turnaround times for customer owned warranty repair items, and own the customer experience on behalf of brand partners.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of sewing production, sewing techniques, and sewing machine operation
  • Prior experience in repair operations, sewing, or a technical manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and support team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high commitment to quality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Have strong technical knowledge and creativity for how to fix "un-repairable" or highly complex items
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Direct repair, tailoring, or alterations experience, especially in the outdoor market

Responsibilities

  • Track production metrics and efficiencies
  • Present data-driven reports on department productivity, quality, and profitability metrics
  • Advise on the technical scope of work for new brand contracts to ensure realistic revenue margins.
  • Define and document the "Tersus Standard" for repairs. Establish the technical protocols for sewn repairs, seam taping, zipper replacements, patching, hardware repair, and more.
  • Mentor and develop your sewing team to master complex technical repairs across a wide range of outdoor gear and apparel.
  • Lead and motivate a team of sewing and repair techs, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service and workmanship.
  • Oversee the procurement of technical repair materials, ensuring the shop is stocked with matching threads, technical fabrics, and brand-correct hardware.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized workspace environment.
  • Ensure the department consistently meets quality standards and turnaround milestones for our brand partners.
  • Review quality metrics (rework rates and accuracy) to identify trends and implement corrective training where necessary.
  • Manage a complex first-in first-out flow of warranty repairs with contractual SLAs
  • Manage communications between the Tersus repair team and brand customer service teams across multiple brands for customer owned products
