About The Position

The Sewer position involves operating a sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, or decorate various articles. Key responsibilities include sewing cut pieces to form covers for items like trucks, buses, and armrests, understanding material stretch, and establishing efficient sewing sequences. The individual is expected to maintain product quality, communicate production-related issues, and perform necessary clean-up. The facility operates four days per week, with overtime required as dictated by business needs and production demands. Sewers must be willing to work the hours necessary to meet business deadlines. This role has no supervisory responsibilities. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of how different materials stretch when they are sewn together.

Responsibilities

  • Operates sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, or decorate articles by performing the following duties.
  • Ability to sew cut pieces in order to form a cover (Truck, Bus, Armrest, etc).
  • Ability to picture and establish a sewing sequence (most practical way to join pieces).
  • Ability to maintain a quality product through its production path.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues concerning production or other relative items and how to resolve them.
  • Clean up as necessary.
  • Process sheets for the production of parts daily and weekly.
  • Work overtime may be required as part of the sewers’ schedule to support changes in volume or production requirements may change the length of scheduled shifts.
  • Sewers must be willing to work the required hours to support business deadlines.
