About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to supervise and lead a work crew in sewer line installation, maintenance and repair.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent supplemented by, specialized courses/training that correlates to satisfactory completion of one (1) year of college education
• Four (4) years of related experience, two (2) of which must be installing, maintaining and repairing sewer lines and/or closely related utility.
• Valid Driver's License
• Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate. Must obtain Endorsement N Tank Vehicles within the first six (6) months of employment
• CDL holders are subject to FMCSA query prior to qualification
• Please attach a current copy of your CDL license to this application
• Must be accessible to on-call duty, be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies
• Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies.
• Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
• All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily operations of assigned work crew
• Investigates and diagnoses sanitary and storm sewer issues
• Operates various pieces of equipment used in the maintenance and repair of sewer lines
• Uses various programs such as Accela, Arch Reader, Granite, PeopleSoft, etc.
• Uses tools such as shovels, wrenches, clamps, hammers, rigid machines, and pumps
• Provides guidance and training to apprentices
• Communicates with property owners
• Performs related work as assigned
