About The Position

The Setter Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating presses to produce parts that meet customer demand and specifications.

Requirements

  • Must possess excellent mechanical skills.
  • Must possess strong logical problem solving skills.
  • Must be disciplined to follow Standard Work practices.
  • Must possess good communication and people interactions skills.
  • Must have strong mathematical skills in regards to computation involving decimals and fractions.
  • Must be SPC Level 2 certified, or capable of reaching SPC Level 2.
  • Must be able to maintain composure and focus to complete assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to multi-task to make proper decisions with appropriate attention to detail, in order to maintain the flow of product.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required.
  • Must have understanding of dimensional and geometric tolerances.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous job related mechanical experience is required. (Assessment will be given)

  • Safeguard Compliance by following all laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Make Ethical choices when planning specific courses of action.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously develop 5s system that addresses safety, housekeeping, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Follow detailed procedures for setting up presses to produce cups and sleeves to meet customer specifications.
  • Operate presses to produce cups and sleeves to meet scheduled demand.
  • Perform minor modifications to tooling as required to achieve proper part specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machines and tooling to fix problems with non-conforming product.
  • Make timely decisions regarding quality problems according to established stop-call-wait procedures.
  • Set-up and operate gauges to measure parts, ensuring parts are being produced to proper specifications.
  • Must support set-up reduction through TPS activities.
  • Understand and react properly following detailed defect correction procedures for non-conforming product.
  • Submit suggestions to drive continuous improvement of quality and efficiency.
  • Must be able to work closely with the team leaders and press technicians to obtain the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Work continuously to improve changeover times, without negatively impacting part quality or machine PPM rate.
  • Ensure that proper quantities of raw material are on hand to meet production schedule.
