About The Position

The Set-Up Technician is responsible for independently setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting complex production machinery used in the manufacturing of automotive parts. This role ensures machines are configured for optimal performance, supports continuous improvement, and mentors junior technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in machine setup or technical roles in manufacturing.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Proficient in setting up CNC, stamping, molding, or other complex machinery.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with ERP/MES systems and setup documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete machine setups and changeovers with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic issues during setup.
  • Optimize machine parameters to improve cycle time, quality, and efficiency.
  • Train and mentor Class B technicians and machine operators.
  • Maintain detailed setup documentation and update standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to support new product launches.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
