About The Position

The purpose and function of this position is to provide prompt and courteous customer service, custodial services, furniture delivery and setups that are visually tidy and pleasant across campus while enforcing campus policies.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.
  • EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of work experience.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction
  • Ability to handle, load, unload, and carry heavy, bulky furniture
  • Knowledge in proper cleaning techniques
  • Ability to use a ladder and operate cleaning equipment (burnishes, buffers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
  • Must demonstrate a good work ethic
  • Ability to read and write effectively

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the security and care of furnishings and equipment while it is being delivered
  • Relay all pertinent information/issues to staff member as appropriate
  • Complete all daily work orders and event setups, technical requirements, furniture and equipment requirements, etc.
  • Must fill in for absent custodial staff and perform custodial duties when needed
  • Must perform custodial duties for and during Athletic events
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns
  • Assist with daily event management to include unlocking meeting rooms, checking out equipment, and maintaining awareness of daily event schedules
  • Inspect equipment to ensure all equipment is functioning properly before setting it up in a meeting room
  • Responsible for moving and setting up office and lounge furniture for faculty, staff and students
  • Maintain orderly appearance in all storage areas
  • Responsible for the appearance/cleanliness of public spaces and meeting rooms
  • Maintain neat and clean appearance of lounges, meeting rooms, hallways (in coordination with custodial staff)
  • Assist with resetting spaces after events/meetings
  • Relay outstanding/pending items to supervisor and other crew members prior to being absent
  • Attend required employee staff development meetings/programs/trainings
  • Must wear protective safety equipment, including (at a minimum) closed-toed shoes, belted pants, and proper Facilities vests
  • Works closely with the Camps & Conferences Office and with a variety of Facilities and campus-wide personnel, students, and faculty
  • Assists in shoveling snow in building entryways
  • Communicates routinely with Facilities personnel and building occupants regarding work related matters
  • May be asked to pick up from the warehouse and deliver custodial supplies to various buildings
  • May be asked to perform other recyclable/waste management duties as needed
  • Must immediately report any water/plumbing leaks, burnt light bulbs, and identifiable building structural problems to Facilities front office
  • May be asked to fill in for other custodians when they are out
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
