About The Position

The Service Technician I plays a key role in the execution of electrical service, installation, and maintenance across commercial, industrial, and municipal job sites. This technician demonstrates safe work practices, technical competency, leadership on-site, and excellent communication with customers. A successful Service Technician I plans and manages tasks effectively, ensures compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes, and contributes to a clean, professional, and customer-focused job environment.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical service or construction
  • Proficient in interpreting electrical drawings and using advanced testing tools
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and electrical safety codes
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Safe work habits and code compliance
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and tool usage
  • Clear, respectful, and effective communication
  • Job planning, crew scheduling, and leadership
  • Professionalism in handling customers and site conditions
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Outdoor and indoor job sites in commercial, industrial, and municipal settings. Must be comfortable working in varied environments and capable of lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, installing, and servicing electrical equipment and circuits in a commercial industrial space
  • Operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and aerial lift platforms
  • Ability to appropriately interface with outside customers, clients and entities, maintaining Stansell electric standards
  • Good with documenting and recording daily work with detailed notes, photos, and other information using iPhones, iPads, or by other technological means
  • Able to manage small projects with 6 or less people
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 for potential emergency situations
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics
  • Demonstrates safe practices at all times to protect self, team, and customers.
  • Utilizes the IF (Installation & Functionality) manual to complete tasks according to standards and best practices.
  • Follows Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) policies and procedures for energized equipment.
  • Maintains working knowledge and adherence to NFPA70e electrical safety standards.
  • Leads STKY/STCHY conversations daily to promote jobsite safety awareness.
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully with customers, team members, and supervisors.
  • Provides basic explanations of the work being done, helping customers understand procedures and safety.
  • Keeps the customer informed of job status and next steps to build trust and maintain satisfaction.
  • Follows up to ensure the jobsite is clean and customer expectations are met.
  • Handles minor customer frustrations with professionalism, de-escalating concerns calmly and constructively.
  • Troubleshoots and addresses breaker trips and lighting control systems.
  • Proficient in using a multimeter to test voltage and continuity, a megger for insulation testing, circuit tracers & locators, and power quality meters for testing and reporting.
  • Uses rotation meters and other diagnostic tools to verify proper equipment function.
  • Installs and services branch circuits and feeders in compliance with project specs.
  • Reads and interprets prints, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and control schematics accurately.
  • Installs commercial, industrial, and municipal projects per plans and specifications.
  • Ensures quality control and code compliance throughout project execution.
  • Plans and schedules job assignments for crew to ensure timely, efficient completion.
  • Manages project schedule by coordinating with foremen and supervisors.
  • Completes weekly look-ahead planning, identifying materials, manpower, and sequencing needs.
  • Leads and supervises installation crews, ensuring alignment with safety and performance standards.
  • Communicates job progress and resolves field issues, escalating when necessary.
