About The Position

The Service Technician I is an entry-level position within the Security Surveillance Division. This role supports the installation, monitoring, and servicing of surveillance systems, working under the guidance of senior technicians and management. The Technician I is responsible for handling basic technical tasks, documentation, equipment checks, and customer interactions while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and accountability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a Fit Test, drug test, and background check.
  • Computer proficiency: Windows-based programs, Microsoft Word/Excel, ability to type 65 WPM.
  • Basic math, literacy, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly (connection speeds, software, monitoring tools).
  • Strong observation skills, attention to detail, and punctuality.
  • Ability to lift and load heavy equipment; climb ladders; work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Basic math skills, ability to read spreadsheets/lists, and fluency in English (read, write, speak).
  • Sense of urgency, initiative, follow-through, and pride in work.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a growing, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with surveillance equipment, installations, or technical support.
  • Experience using Avigilon, HikVision, or similar monitoring platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with the installation of surveillance cameras, cabling, and related hardware.
  • Feed, route, and secure cables through access holes, roof spaces, and walls to connect to fixture outlets.
  • Adjust and position cameras to achieve optimal coverage based on project design.
  • Fabricate and assemble basic camera systems using hand tools and hardware.
  • Learn and operate monitoring and connection software (e.g., Avigilon, HikVision firmware).
  • Monitor live feeds for suspicious activity, follow security protocols, and assist in dispatching calls to law enforcement if necessary.
  • Understand bandwidth requirements, connection speeds, and the impact of environmental factors on system performance.
  • Verify and prepare equipment and supplies for field crews, ensuring drivers and technicians have the necessary tools.
  • Assist with loading and unloading heavy equipment; operate forklifts or skid-steer loaders when certified.
  • Inspect equipment and vehicles against checklists to ensure readiness and safety compliance.
  • Track and maintain accurate records of equipment use, maintenance, and job-related paperwork.
  • Complete job checklists, reports, and paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Conduct visual inspections of completed work to confirm quality standards are met.
  • Support managers in developing and enforcing accountability and quality control measures.
  • Maintain documentation required for compliance, safety audits, and client confirmation.
  • Interact with clients professionally during site visits and service calls.
  • Communicate with sales staff and management regarding project needs, issues, or updates.
  • Represent the company with a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Consistently wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Successfully complete all assigned safety training courses (Boom lift, Scissor lift, Fall Protection).
  • Promote personal safety and ergonomics while working in diverse environments.
  • Report unsafe practices, hazards, or violations immediately to management.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for work daily, maintaining punctuality and reliability.
  • Exhibit flexibility and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing job requirements.
  • Uphold company policies, procedures, and values in all work activities.
