About The Position

Ready to take your technical education beyond the classroom? The Service Technician Internship at SITECH Northeast provides hands-on field experience supporting GPS and machine control systems used in construction and heavy equipment applications. Interns work alongside experienced field technicians, gaining exposure to equipment installation, service, and troubleshooting while gaining experience in jobsite safety, real-time problem solving, and working directly with customers and field teams. This paid internship is designed to align with school schedules and offers valuable real-world experience with the opportunity for full-time employment after graduation. This position is intended for summer employment, with flexibility to align with school schedules. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited technical, trade, or academic program
  • Preferred areas of study include Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment, Construction Technology, or related fields
  • Interest in or basic understanding of:
  • Diesel engines
  • Electrical systems
  • Construction or heavy equipment
  • Proficient with computers and basic software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Organized, reliable, and willing to learn
  • Able to commute daily to the assigned work location

Nice To Haves

  • Prior hands-on mechanical or technical experience
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Interest in pursuing a career in field service, construction technology, or heavy equipment systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist field technicians with GPS equipment installation, repair, and service
  • Support troubleshooting and diagnostics of machine control systems
  • Help prepare equipment for customer deployment
  • Learn proper safety, documentation, and reporting procedures
  • Gain exposure to customer interactions and jobsite operations
