About The Position

This hybrid role combines expert STIHL equipment servicing with front-line inside sales and customer support. You’ll work both in the service shop (performing diagnostics, repairs, and warranty work) and on the retail floor (assisting customers, processing transactions, supporting merchandising). Ideal candidates will have STIHL Silver level certification (or progress toward it), mechanical aptitude, and retail customer service experience. This position plays a key role in maintaining service department standards while ensuring a positive in-store experience for customers.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on repair experience, especially in outdoor power equipment.
  • Customer service and retail sales experience, including use of POS systems.
  • Ability to handle cash and transactions securely.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with solid time management.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and product merchandising.
  • Able to lift 50-70 lbs. and stand for long periods; shop and retail environment capable.

Nice To Haves

  • STIHL Silver Level Certification (or Bronze with willingness to earn Silver).
  • 1–3 years of experience in small engine repair and/or retail hardware sales.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • STIHL Service & Technical Repair Diagnose, repair, and maintain STIHL outdoor power equipment and similar small engines (gas, electric, battery).
  • Complete warranty service documentation and process claims in accordance with STIHL protocols.
  • Perform safety checks, pre-delivery inspections (PDI), and routine maintenance services.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workshop and tool environment.
  • Provide technical product knowledge to customers, including maintenance tips and safe operation.
  • Stay current with STIHL training, advancing toward Gold certification if eligible.
  • Responsible for inventory management of Stihl retail items as well as tools and repair parts.
  • Retail Inside Sales Support Greet customers and assist with product inquiries, sales recommendations, and pricing.
  • Operate point-of-sale (POS) system to process transactions accurately.
  • Promote current sales promotions and upsell accessories or STIHL gear.
  • Support store merchandising, stock rotation, and restocking as needed.
  • Participate in inventory management, including reporting discrepancies and stocking needs.
  • Resolve customer concerns courteously and professionally.
  • Perform administrative tasks like opening/closing duties, documentation, and receipts handling.
