Job Title Service Technician – Flow Cytometry and Lab Instruments Location(s) AZ (Gaithersburg) - Customer Site MD Job Description Job Responsibilities Completes assigned preventive maintenance and start up/shut down at customer site within assigned time frame and established performance standards. Execute instrument start‑up and shut‑down checklists daily; perform weekly and monthly maintenance (fluidics flushes, alignment, calibration, filter checks, cleaning/decontamination, firmware checks) per SOPs. Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions. Maintain up to date electronic and repair documentation for dispatch, inventory, and service support functions of the job. Follow all company’s procedures and protocols. Drive toward zero service repeat calls. Perform timely uploads and downloads of required data to ensure the integrity of the service system. Accountable for assigned company assets to include computers, tools, test equipment, telecommunication equipment, personal service parts inventory, etc Coordinate windows for maintenance with scientists; communicate status, ETA, and workaround options; capture feedback to refine PM schedules. Manage inventory levels to ensure that adequate supply and appropriate records are maintained. Take an active role in developing technical skills and soft skills to maintain and enhance PerkinElmer’s value proposition to the customer. Build positive relationships with customers. Seek higher level certification through participation in company sponsored training & development initiatives. Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects, of daily activities in the working environment. Adhere to biosafety procedures (BSL‑2/BSL‑2+ as applicable), aerosol containment for sorters, decontamination protocols (e.g., bleach/ethanol/sterile water flush sequences), hazardous waste labeling/handling, and lock‑out/tag‑out where required. Requirements

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of relevant equipment/software after training.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting across optics, fluidics, electronics, and control software; ability to read service manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • MS Office Skills: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Associate degree in Science, Engineering, or a relevant field of study OR High School Diploma and a minimum of 1 - 2 years of related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a relevant field of study.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment.
  • Familiarity with mobile tools and applications.
  • Familiarity with biosafety, aerosol management, and decontamination SOPs.
