Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of direct consumer service experience with proven ability to resolve issues under stressful conditions.
  • Clear, calm, professional telephone voice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Basic computer competency with the ability to navigate multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Ability to accurately document interactions and access needed information efficiently.
  • Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience handling a high volume of calls in a demanding environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by answering incoming calls with courtesy, professionalism, and efficiency; proactively identify caller needs and resolve concerns.
  • Deliver after‑hours answering services for internal clinics by gathering accurate information and paging on‑call physicians according to established guidelines.
  • Remain knowledgeable about changes across all Health System campuses—including Main, Lexington, Davie, and West—and maintain an up‑to‑date switchboard database of phone and pager numbers.
  • Update and manage on‑call schedules; work with clinical departments to resolve discrepancies or missing information.
  • Assist Pathology after hours by serving as a neutral witness in sensitive discussions with family members regarding autopsy decisions; record conversations and deliver documentation to Security per policy.
  • Receive, document, and dispatch a wide range of service requests related to Patient Transport, Linen, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Clinical Equipment.
  • Monitor service request activity and escalate unresolved issues to department management following SRC guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
