About The Position

TempToFT Key Staffing is looking for a Service Mechanic. Pay Range: $20-$23/hr. Position Overview: The Service Mechanic will assist with diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, completing repairs, and maintaining accurate service records. This position plays a critical role in ensuring equipment remains operational, safe, and compliant in a demanding outdoor industrial environment. Primary equipment includes heavy-duty diesel-powered machinery such as scrapers, bulldozers, haul trucks, excavators, and various hydraulic systems. The role also involves maintaining shop equipment and supporting facility fixed assets as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years of mechanical experience in heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial environments
  • Skilled in use and care of hand and power tools for mechanical repair work
  • Welding knowledge and field experience preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and improve efficiency of shop operations
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Must be self-motivated, safety-conscious, and able to work independently
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
  • Ability to work in dusty, odorous, and industrial waste facility environments
  • Ability to climb stairs equivalent to at least two stories
  • Ability to work during night-time hours when required
  • Ability to use hand tools in various positions and angles
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs occasionally

  • Diesel experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps, safety valves, motors, and related systems on stationary and mobile equipment
  • Inspect, repair, and adjust diesel power units, hydraulic systems, injection valves, mold boards, and other heavy equipment components
  • Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication and replacement of filters, belts, and related parts
  • Diagnose mechanical defects and perform repairs or coordinate repairs with third-party mechanics upon approval
  • Weld and fabricate to repair mobile equipment and facility assets (fences, gates, wash racks, etc.)
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed or assigned
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, safety, and organization at all times
  • Document work orders and maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
  • Coordinate with purchasing staff for ordering parts and shop supplies
  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Serve as shift lead in the absence of the Supervisor when needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
