About The Position

Servers at the Nantahala Outdoor Center work at River’s End Restaurant, located right on the banks of the Nantahala River in the heart of the Nantahala Gorge in Bryson City, NC. This fast-paced, scenic setting offers a one-of-a-kind serving experience alongside whitewater rafters, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts from all over. This position reports to the Front of House Management team. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to work weekends and holidays, with availability for morning, daytime, and evening shifts as scheduled by management. This posting is for the 2026 season. (March to October)

Requirements

18 years of age
Previous serving experience
An understanding of the flow of restaurant operations
Have a professional appearance and attitude
Have great customer service skills
Be a good communicator
Be able to function as a team player
Take direction well
Be able to work independently

Responsibilities

Take and serve food and drink orders to NOC guests in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment
Coordinate with back-of-house for food orders
Provide information to guests on menu items, food and drink specials, and meal ingredients
Handle cash and credit card transactions with guests
Promote to guests the adventures that NOC has to offer along with local area information
Complete side work and front of house duties as outlined by the manager on duty
Assist other members of the Food and Beverage team as needed
Create a clean and inviting atmosphere inside and outside the restaurant by: sweeping, mopping, washing windows, cleaning and stocking the bathrooms and taking out trash
Stock drink stations and make tea and coffee
Assist other members of the Food and Beverage team as needed
Other duties as assigned
