About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY The Server is responsible for serving guests by assisting with food and beverage selections; ringing in and monitoring orders; preparing and serving drinks; maintaining dining ambiance and overall cleanliness and presentation of the space. The Server has the biggest impact on guest experience and must be focused on connecting with them and enhancing their experience by using a combination of personality and suggestive sales tactics. Servers also maintain the service bar and make beverages for guests.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years as a Server at a high volume restaurant preferred
  • Previous experience with restaurant point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
  • Multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environmet

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, gracious, detail-oriented service to create a memorable dining experience
  • Prepare dining room for service by setting up tables, temaki bars and service stations
  • Help guests in making selections from food and beverage menus, suggest courses and pairings, explain any off-menu dishes, answering all food preparation questions
  • Ring in all orders through the POS system
  • Check identification of all customers who appear under 30 to verify they are of legal drinking age prior to serving them
  • Handle guests’ special dietary needs, allergies, or special requests with utmost sensitivity, following Company procedure
  • Communicate with the kitchen to manage timing of food, any guest feedback, etc.
  • Handle guest complaints by finding a way to say yes and communicate with the Manager on Duty
  • Process guest payments in timely, accurate manner
  • Process financials on shift-by-shift basis, including submitting accurate cash sales
  • Accurately report cash tips and contribute to tip pool as applicable; Record tip information on tip sheet, as directed by Management
  • Maintain expert knowledge of all menu offerings, including allergens
  • Complete closing side work checklist for shift daily
  • The ability to speak and understand English
  • The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction
  • The ability to understand basic math
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • The ability to lift at least 30 pounds on a regular basis
  • The ability to bend, stoop, stand and perform extensive walking for 8-10 hours a day, including going up and down stairs multiple times per day
  • Adaptable in fast-paced and challenging work environment

  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business

  • Strict adherence to posted schedule and clock in/out at times
  • Communicate information effectively and efficiently
  • Maintain general knowledge of the restaurant, location, transportation, management team, etc.
  • Participate in community events and ensure corporate social responsibility goals of Company are met
  • Attend mandatory meetings
  • Adhere to all HR policies and guidelines
  • Perform all other related and compatible duties as assigned by the Management Team
  • Update knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities
  • Maintain sanitation to Department of Health standards; Keep work area clean and organized
  • Inform Manager on Duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
