About The Position

The Commodore Bar & Restaurant is a fine dining restaurant in Saint Paul, MN serving award-winning, contemporary American cuisine in a gorgeous setting on historic Cathedral Hill. We’ve been around since 1974 and are an icon in Twin Cities dining with our award-winning patio and romantic setting. We are seeking a professional, friendly, and dedicated server to join our fine dining team. As a server, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to your guests, ensuring they have an unforgettable dining experience. Your ability to communicate effectively, remain attentive, and anticipate guest needs will be crucial in maintaining the high standards of our restaurant.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in fine dining or upscale restaurant service is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of fine dining etiquette, wine pairings, and menu offerings is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift trays or plates up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and seat guests in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Present menus and provide detailed descriptions of menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen and bar staff.
  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of food and beverages to guests.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and address any concerns or special requests promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including setting and resetting tables between courses.
  • Upsell and suggest additional items such as appetizers, desserts, or wine pairings.
  • Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely preparation of orders.
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and cleanliness guidelines in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Process payments and handle cash or credit transactions.
  • Maintain a professional and polished appearance at all times.
