About The Position

The Casino Sergeant is responsible for the direct supervision, coordination, and daily performance of Public Safety Officers assigned to the casino property and, when designated, for supervising patrol operations on Tribal lands and enterprises. This position ensures that all safety and security operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Tribal, state, and federal regulations. The Casino Sergeant provides leadership during incidents and emergencies, maintains communication between the casino, patrol, and command staff, and promotes professionalism, accountability, and teamwork. They play a key role in maintaining a secure, service-oriented environment while upholding the Tribe’s commitment to the Five Star Experience, ensuring safety, respect, and integrity for all guests and team members.

Requirements

  • High School Degree (or GED)
  • Two (2) years (or equivalent) supervisory experience.
  • Must pass periodic random drug screens.
  • Must be able to pass background suitability investigation.
  • Must obtain a Tribal Gaming License.
  • Must obtain all other applicable certifications and licenses.
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment.
  • Must obtain CPR, First Aid and AED Certification upon hire
  • Must possess and maintain a current Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Guard Card
  • Must possess and maintain a current Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Firearms Permit
  • Must possess and maintain a current Baton Permit
  • Must possess and maintain a current Chemical Agent Permit

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service to guests and all other employees by exceeding our mission statement.

  • Supervise and coordinate Public Safety Officers assigned to the casino, ensuring compliance with Tribal gaming regulations, departmental policies, and internal controls.
  • Conduct roll calls, assign daily posts, and ensure shift readiness, accountability, and coverage.
  • Respond to and manage incidents within the casino, ensuring accurate documentation, investigation, and follow-up.
  • Serve as the incident supervisor for disturbances, medical emergencies, thefts, or other critical events until relieved by command staff.
  • Coordinate with Surveillance, Compliance, Risk Management, and Human Resources during investigations or enforcement actions.
  • Review and approve incident, injury, and property reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Body-Worn Camera policies and reporting standards.
  • Monitor officer’s performance, appearance, and professionalism; coach and counsel as needed.
  • Train and mentor officers in guest service, emergency response, de-escalation, and report writing.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the gaming floor to deter misconduct and ensure officer engagement.
  • Ensure adherence to Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS).
  • Assume command and management of crime scenes, emergency situations, sectors, and areas when required of Sergeant.
  • Maintain professional communication with all directors, managers, and command staff.
  • Participate in scheduling, evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions as directed.
  • Prepare and submit accurate logs, reports, and operational documentation in a timely manner.
  • Recommend improvements to operational policies, training, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain readiness to respond to critical incidents on any Tribal property when called upon.
  • Promote teamwork and morale, fostering open communication and a disciplined, respectful environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Commander, Director, or designee.
  • Supervise patrol officers during field operations, ensuring proper enforcement of Tribal ordinances and response to incidents across Tribal properties.
  • Conduct vehicle, equipment, and uniform inspections to ensure operational readiness.
  • Oversee and review patrol activity logs, reports, and case documentation for accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Direct officers in responding to accidents, traffic control, disturbances, and emergency calls.
  • Coordinate and assume command of major incidents, crime scenes, or emergency responses until relieved by senior staff.
  • Support enforcement of Tribal laws and assist in multi-agency coordination with local law enforcement when necessary.
  • Able to make difficult decision in a fair and honest manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
