What you'll do: You'll direct the work of assigned detention officers and be responsible for the custody and discipline of persons in the facility in compliance with MTC and customer directives.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
- Two (2) years’ correctional custody or law enforcement experience required.
- Must successfully complete required pre-service training.
- A valid driver’s license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
- Must successfully complete all annual in-service requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.

- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees.
- Provide for the care, custody, and adherence to rules and regulations of detainees assigned to specific work area.
- Supervise and provide custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees and detainees assigned to work duty which includes long periods of sitting and standing.
- Supervise and direct searches for contraband including ‘pat’ and ‘strip’ searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions.
- Transfer and transport detainees by walking or riding in vehicles; restrain and secure assaultive detainees as needed.
- Read, review, and properly apply information found in detainee records which is related to the detainee’s health and safety and to the security of the facility; provide appropriate information to other personnel.
- Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports.
- Perform specific duties if assigned to the following areas: housing unit, administration segregation and intake.
