The Senior Work Control Specialist - Day Shift provides advanced-level technical expertise in the planning, coordination, and authorization of work activities at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC. This position requires an experienced work management professional who independently develops, reviews, and processes complex work packages for a wide range of industrial, maintenance, and facility operations activities in compliance with DOE requirements and ISMS principles. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of work control or maintenance planning experience in a DOE nuclear or similarly regulated industrial environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor degree in a technical, engineering, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in work control, maintenance planning, or integrated work management in a DOE nuclear facility or similarly complex regulated industrial environment.
  • In-depth working knowledge of ISMS, DOE work authorization requirements, lockout/tagout, radiological work permit processes, and job hazard analysis.
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms (Maximo, SAP PM, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Savannah River Site access badge and pass all required background checks and DOE security requirements.
  • Valid U.S. driver license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Safety, Nuclear Science, or related field.
  • Direct Savannah River Site or DOE major facility experience (Hanford, INL, WIPP, Y-12, Oak Ridge, or equivalent).
  • Experience as a lead planner, senior planner, or work control lead in a DOE operating facility.
  • DOE Q or L Security Clearance.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification.
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop, review, coordinate, and process complex work packages including job hazard analyses (JHAs), lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, radiological work permits (RWPs), industrial hygiene controls, hot work permits, and fire protection impairments in compliance with all applicable DOE Orders, site procedures, and ISMS requirements.
  • Serve as the primary Day Shift work control interface for maintenance, operations, engineering, safety, and radiological controls (RadCon) personnel, coordinating pre-job briefs, work package walkthroughs, and real-time schedule adjustments.
  • Monitor and manage the daily work order schedule in the CMMS, updating work packages as field conditions change and communicating deviations to the Work Control Manager and client personnel.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Work Control Specialists and planners, reviewing their work products for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with site and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in daily operations meetings, schedule coordination calls, and client interface activities, providing status updates and risk assessments to site leadership.
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective action development, and lessons learned activities for work control-related events; implement improvements to work package quality and efficiency.
  • Work a standard Day Shift schedule of 10 hours per day; shift adjustments may be required during outages, campaigns, or other high-demand operational periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of site work control and operational objectives.
