About The Position

The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities. An ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineering lead with a knack for solving complex data engineering problems. The role involves working and delivering in an enterprise-grade Data Governance environment, ensuring adherence to Lineage, Metadata, Catalog, Data Quality, Validation, and Reconciliation, and enabling cross-platform interoperability with a focus on self-service and real-time data delivery.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience in applications development
  • Experience in Wealth Management / Private Bank data space.
  • Familiarity with key investment flows like Post Trade Flows, Portfolio and Risk Modelling, Performance, Market and Reference data including Client and Advisor and IC interactions.
  • Sound knowledge of core investment products like Cash Equity, Fixed Income, Alternatives, Structured Notes and Derivatives.
  • Experience with data technologies such as RDBMS and Hadoop (Cloudera) database.
  • Experience in building cloud native data platforms (AWS & GCP) and exposure to modern data architecture.
  • Experience in building real-time and batch data pipelines to support wide range of Analytics, Regulatory, Business and Operational use cases
  • Familiar with the big data technologies such as Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, HBase, Spark and Flink
  • Experience in leading large multi domain / location teams is required.
  • Collaborative and capable of bridging gap between Business, Technology and Analytics team.
  • Experience managing global technology teams
  • Working knowledge of industry & Citi practices and standards
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • An ideal candidate will be hands on engineering lead with a knack of solving complex data engineering problems
  • Knowledge of Spark framework – Core Spark, Spark Data Frames, Spark streaming
  • Excellent communication skills and can manage a complex set of stakeholders with a diverse background and ask.
  • Ability to execute multiple priorities and work with stakeholders ensuring appropriate prioritization.
  • An ideal candidate is expected to work and deliver in an enterprise grade Data Governance environment, ensuring adherence to Lineage. Metadata, Catalog, Data Quality, Validation and Reconciliation.
  • Enable cross platform interoperability with focus on self-service and real-time data delivery.
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
  • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
  • Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Wealth Investment data domain is preferred; an ideal candidate will have experience with a large global bank.
  • Experience with Kafka is preferred
  • Experience with AI technologies including coding assistant like Microsoft Copilot, Calude Code and Devin
  • Exposure with Snowflake and Databricks is preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
