About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Tampa, FL. Under direction, applies full competency in water resources engineering work and broad knowledge of precedents in the areas of transportation drainage, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and stormwater design. On design assignments, understands how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications. Experience with FDOT drainage design criteria which may include the following designs: open and closed storm drain design, wet and dry stormwater management facilities, pond siting analysis, base clearance analysis, nutrient loading analysis, and bridge hydraulic analysis. Understanding and experience with local, state and federal regulatory permitting processes, including but not limited to Northwest Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Federal Highway Administration and Army Corps of Engineers. On projects involving engineering services related to construction activities, has developed a thorough understanding of construction methods and the manner in which engineering drawings and specifications are translated into the constructed product. Your role Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Performs engineering design and/or reviews the design and drafting work of junior engineers, designers or drafters. Prepares cost and man-hour estimates, job budgets and schedules. Plan and review the production of engineering investigations, planning work, drawings and specifications. Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solution. Analyze technical problems, assess the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devise new approaches and alternative solutions. Coordinates work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff. Lead and mentor junior engineers in the development of design concepts. Provide quality control and maintain quality standards, check work performed by others. Occasionally manage projects. Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
  • This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years' experience since B.S.; six years’ experience since M.S.
  • Incumbents typically have six to ten years' experience since Bachelor's degree.
  • P.E. license is required.
  • Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic design principles and applications in Florida.
  • Technical proficiency with the following software: ICPRv4, ArcGIS, Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, BMP Trains, ProjectWise Explorer, Microsoft Project, and more.
  • Good technical writing, computer and communications skills.
