About The Position

NetImpact Strategies is seeking an experienced Senior Virtualization Administrator to manage and maintain the agency's virtualized infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. You will ensure optimal performance, security, and availability while guiding architecture evolution, automation, and technical mentorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field—or equivalent experience
  • 5–7 years of experience leading virtualization administration with VMware, Hyper-V, or similar
  • Proven ability to design and troubleshoot complex virtual environments in on-prem and cloud (Azure/AWS)
  • Experience automating infrastructure deployment via Azure DevOps, PowerShell, CLI, PowerCLI, and Terraform
  • Hands-on background integrating IaC practices into CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
  • Strong communication and technical mentorship abilities

Nice To Haves

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability in virtual platforms
  • Familiarity with enterprise-grade virtual storage, SAN, and hyperconverged hardware
  • Proven history in automation and IaC within virtual environments

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the agency’s virtualized infrastructure, including on-premises hardware (servers, storage), hypervisors (vSphere), and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure).
  • Design, build, implement, and troubleshoot virtualized systems hosted on VMware, AWS, and Azure.
  • Lead system upgrades, migrations, and architecture improvements to support evolving business and IT needs.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines (VMs) and infrastructure across on-prem and cloud service provider (CSP) environments.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of virtual environments, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex virtualization issues, including VM performance, connectivity, and security challenges.
  • Implement and manage advanced backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure resilience and data availability.
  • Ensure security compliance by applying patches, updates, and security configurations across virtual environments.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of virtualization environments, procedures, and operational policies.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to integrate virtualization solutions with other enterprise systems.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and mentorship to junior virtualization administrators and IT staff.
  • Research and evaluate emerging virtualization technologies, reporting on potential value and adoption strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in virtualization processes, including automation, monitoring, and disaster recovery practices.
