About The Position

Every month, millions of people from around the world come to Roblox to play, learn, work, and socialize in immersive digital experiences created by the community. Your contributions to keeping this thriving global community at the forefront of play with safety and civility will focus on conducting generative and evaluative research centered around the Safety experience across Roblox. You will focus on conducting user research focused on ensuring users and developers can play and create in a safe and civil environment. You will help answer questions to inform feature development from account creation to reporting abusive behavior. You’ll also ensure that all of our core audiences – from players and creators to parents and policymakers – understand and are confident in Roblox’s safety tooling and programs. You will research how Roblox can retain and grow confidence in our platform as an industry leader in Trust & Safety, informing product solutions to address the constantly evolving global policy landscape. You will: Deeply understand the user experiences for a diverse global audience through seamless cross-product journeys, engaging learning experiences, and delightful interactions that align with our mission. Manage end-to-end research projects with an ability to translate abstract ideas into viable product feature recommendations. Conduct foundational research to understand and improve the safety and security of millions of players Work with cross-functional (XFN) stakeholders in Design, Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, and Civility to facilitate research discussions, and give concise feedback to inform feature roadmaps and product vision. Work in close collaboration with the XFN to evolve research processes and foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and innovation. Have opportunities to present your work to Product Group leadership. Report to the Safety Research Manager.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional career experience as a UX or product researcher.
  • A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in HCI, psychology, marketing research, sociology, anthropology, or other social science discipline with an emphasis on research, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge about a variety of research methods. Is comfortable with both qualitative and quantitative methodology and can identify the correct methodology for the question at hand.
  • A track record of being: A collaborative team-member, sharing work early and often, and encouraging peers and managers to provide constructive feedback. A systems thinker, who advocates for holistic and connected user experiences. A problem solver, who has a tuned thought process that ensures research will adequately answer questions and even challenge if the questions being asked are the right ones. A compelling storyteller, who can articulate research findings clearly through verbal, written, and visual communication. A motivated and curious innovator, always expanding your skills by learning new tools and techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably has experience using software vendors like Qualtrics, database analysis with SQL, and can conduct statistical analyses in SPSS, R or Python.
  • Ideally some experience with international research vendors.
