About The Position

As a Senior User Interface Visual Designer, you will be essential in developing user-centered experiences for both in-vehicle systems and mobile applications. This role requires a profound understanding of user needs and behaviors, allowing you to create innovative and functional designs that enhance usability. You will collaborate with a variety of cross-functional teams (ex. software and engineering) to ensure that your designs align with our brand's mission while improving user interaction with our products. Your expertise in balancing aesthetics with functionality will be key to delivering seamless and engaging user experiences

Requirements

  • A portfolio demonstrating production vehicle user interface visual design work is required.
  • Applications without real-world, production automotive UI experience will not be considered.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience as a user interface visual designer, with significant emphasis on automotive digital products.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering production-ready UI for automotive systems such as instrument clusters, center displays, head units, and related in-vehicle controls.
  • A portfolio showcasing exceptional visual design craft, including layout, typography, iconography, color, motion intent, and final production assets.
  • Extensive experience with industry-standard tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, with a focus on high-fidelity UI design and asset delivery.
  • Proven ability to take designs from concept through to production, working closely with engineering to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Strong experience collaborating within cross-functional teams, including UX, product management, and software engineering.
  • Exceptional visual design judgment, with a strong sense of aesthetics, hierarchy, and brand expression.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing complex design deliverables across multiple programs.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to articulate visual decisions and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical partners.
  • A passion for craft, quality, and building meaningful digital experiences that stand the test of production reality.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the SCOUT brand promise and design strategy into production-ready, high-fidelity user interface designs for in-vehicle systems and companion mobile applications.
  • Own the visual execution and maturation of UI designs, ensuring screens, components, and transitions meet production-level quality, consistency, and feasibility.
  • Deliver pixel-perfect UI layouts, visual assets, and specifications that clearly communicate intent to engineering and support accurate implementation.
  • Develop and refine iconography, typography, color systems, layout principles, motion intent, and visual hierarchy across multiple digital touchpoints.
  • Partner closely with UX designers to translate user flows, interaction models, and functional requirements into expressive, intuitive, and visually cohesive interfaces.
  • Build and evolve the UI visual library, including reusable visual components, patterns, and production assets that support scalability across vehicle programs and mobile platforms.
  • Collaborate with engineering and software teams to ensure visual designs are correctly implemented, addressing constraints, edge cases, and production realities early.
  • Contribute to motion and transition concepts that enhance clarity, feedback, and brand expression within technical constraints.
  • Manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously, balancing hands-on visual design execution with clear communication and alignment across teams.
  • Support and mentor designers through visual craft leadership, raising the overall quality and consistency of Scout’s digital interfaces.
