About The Position

Discover a rewarding opportunity to join the growing Wholesale team at Ironshore! The role will have a focus on underwriting business for Financial Lines products, including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary and Crime for Commercial Public, Private and Not-For-Profit companies and organizations. The position will have a specific focus on markets in the Southeast, and there is an expectation that you have existing relationships within the territory.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business or equivalent typically required
  • A minimum of 2.5 years, typically 3 or more years, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related experience
  • Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility that includes competence with all phases and aspects of the underwriting process, and proficiency in the use of qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques
  • Must demonstrate comprehension of complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows to properly manage or administer those issues
  • Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business

  • CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages portfolio of brokers/agents and clients.
  • Leverages market presence and knowledge to develop and underwrite profitable business, acting as a representative for Liberty, for both renewal and new business accounts.
  • Maintains a strong market presence, including established relationships with agents and brokers. Looks to strengthen these relationships and develop new ones.
  • Contributes ideas for product development and participates in development and execution and to team projects (e.g. process / tool improvement).
  • Understands the work implications of relevant legislation and regulation.
  • Collaborates effectively across teams, stakeholders, and partners (e.g., UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, Directors of Underwriting in GRS North America).
  • Mentors junior underwriters and new hires (not as a line manager).
  • May analyze department`s portfolio and make suggestions for development.
  • May recognize and communicate emerging trends of exposures within line of business expertise.
