About The Position

This is skilled work performing vehicle and equipment preventative maintenance and repairs.

Requirements

  • Senior Trades Worker requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. and four years of experience in the trade assigned; or formal education may substitute for work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance and major and minor repairs on the District's light fleet, hydraulic units, and systems. Conducts routine preventive maintenance and service tasks on light fleet vehicles, including 1-ton and 3/4-ton pickups, generators, pumps, and other tools and equipment.
  • Maintains and carries out scheduled service and operational repairs for project pumps, engines, vehicles, and other small equipment used on projects (engine types include diesel, gas, and alternative fuel, as well as hydraulic and electrical pumps, motors, and control units).
  • Cleans and maintains tools and shop equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs pumps and power units, small engines, and wheel vehicles at the Palm Bay Service Center and related District worksites.
  • Uses computer systems to include: (1) electronic work order system in the performance of all assigned work; maintains accurate accountability of time, parts, and effort expended on preventive maintenance, checks, and services; (2) Microsoft Office suite; (3) Other District digital platforms such as Timecards, fuel, and purchase cards, and (4) Diagnostic tools.
  • Performs metal fabrication and welding on vehicles and equipment, as well as other related duties as directed by supervisors.
