The University of Virginia's Health System Physical Plant is seeking a Senior Trades Utility Technician. Senior Trades Utility Technicians provide support to zone mechanics and other employees in support of zone maintenance. The incumbent supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost-effective and reliable maintenance and service to the University facilities. The Senior Trades Utility Technician performs skilled repair and maintenance tasks in one or more specialized trades/utilities areas and performs semi-skilled, general repair and maintenance tasks in other trades/utilities areas. This work may be performed more independently based on the individual's experience and maintenance/repair service needs. The incumbent will have working knowledge in the use of a variety of diagnostic tools, instruments, equipment, and hand and power tools. The ability to understand and read blueprints and drawings is also essential. We have both part-time and full-time schedules available, roles which are benefits-eligible at a minimum of 20-hours. Evening, night, and weekend hours receive additional compensation through shift differential. The following lists the shifts available. All applicants must be willing and able to work at least one of the below, with some specifics able to be negotiated at the time of hire. Weeknight/Weekend Day Shift: 40-hr Work Week, Built with 2 (two) 12-hour and 2 (two) 8-hour shifts Saturday 7:00am - 7:00pm Sunday 7:00am - 7:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday 11:00pm - 7:00am (fixed, determined at time of hire OR rotating) Weeknight/Weekend Day Shift: 36-hr Work Week, Built with 3 (three) 12-hour shifts Saturday 7:00am - 7:00pm Sunday 7:00am - 7:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 7:00pm - 7:00am (fixed, determined at time of hire OR rotating) Weekend Day Shift: 24-hr Work Week, Built with 2 (two) 12-hour shifts Saturday 7:00am - 7:00pm Sunday 7:00am - 7:00pm
