About The Position

Key Job Elements - Responsibilities and Accountabilities - Primary duties, activities or responsibilities of the position. Training : The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be responsible for working with the plant to develop appropriate training material for the injection molding operations. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be required to evaluate the current tooling team and develop a site specific training / skill top grade program to ensure success. They will be required to assist the site technical manager to determine where the training needs are required. They will be expected to hold training seminars where applicable and setup site training when needed. Hands on mentoring and training will be required. Tooling : The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be required to assess the current condition of tooling PM practices and procedures at the facility and make appropriate changes to ensure effectiveness and consistency of the PM activity at the plant. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be expected to have extensive tooling experience and background within injection molding. The Tooling Process Engineer will be responsible for understanding current tooling issues, responsible for determining corrective action / repairs for the issues, and will be responsible for tracking these issues and following them through to completion with the help from the tooling supervisor. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be expected to be very hands on and will work with the plant to improve tooling related issues that are related to plant performance. They will be required to evaluate the tooling, make recommendations for improvement, and execute their own recommendations. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be accountable for improving performance of plant tooling, cycle time, and scrap through tooling continuous improvement / issue resolution . The engineer will also be responsible for ensuring the proper procedures are in place and being followed to ensure tooling longevity. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be responsible to be a root cause problem solver. When solving tooling and process related issues the Engineer will be expected to apply a logical methodology and will use data where possible to make the best decisions. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will represent the plant during launch reviews / meetings relative to new tool launches. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer is responsible for all aspects of tooling and process development for all new (launch) injection molding tools. Process : The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be expected to help establish new processes for new tooling. They will have site sign-off responsibility for new launch tooling. They will be expected be attend new tooling try-outs and make recommendations for improvement. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be expected to help set a long term processing strategy with the Technical Manager and the Lead Process Engineer. They will have significant input on site processing methodology. The Sr. Tooling Process Engineer will be responsible to work with the process group to troubleshoot and root cause fix processing related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Plastics / Tool & Die or equivalent experience.
  • Ten to Fifteen years experience in injection molding tool engineering.
  • A minimum of ten years direct hands on tooling experience in an injection molding facility.
  • A minimum of five years direct hands on plastic processing experience.
  • Analytical problem solving skills.
  • Exceptional understanding of injection molding processes and equipment.
  • Extensive hands on experience with injection molding equipment, robotics, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Proven maintenance troubleshooting experience.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude for problem solving.
  • International Operating System (IOS): Understand, apply and meet all function-related IOS requirements.
  • Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS): Understand, apply and meet all function-related EHS requirements.
  • Product Safety: Understand, apply and meet all function-related Product Safety requirements.
  • Compliance: Understand, apply and meet all function-related Compliance requirements
  • Information Security: Understand, apply and meet all function-related IT / Information Security and confidentiality of YFAI information requirements.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Employee must have the ability to work additional hours and / or overtime as needed or assigned to complete job duties on time.
  • Ability to multitask, interact politely and professionally with customers, suppliers and vendors, and work cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain predictable and regular attendance, arrive to designated location on time, or be at assigned location ready to work for assignment (plant, corporate office, or remote).
