Job Description Design and develop thin film coatings as required Applications range from VUV through NIR and include reflective coatings, beamsplitters, filters, and AR coatings Troubleshoot and resolve any surface issues related to substrates or film surfaces Act as technical subject matter expert for thin film designs and coating processes Work closely with operations and facilities management to ensure process and equipment performance. Troubleshoot process quality issues and equipment performance problems Performs experiments to identify equipment and process performance improvement opportunities such as yield, cycle time, stability, and cost. Workswith operations to implement process improvements Documents existing and new process procedures, trains operators on proper process execution. Provide technical support to key customers as needed including customer meetings and support of estimating / proposal efforts Qualificatiions: BS minimum (MS preferred) in optics, physics, thin films, or material sciences 5 years minimum experience working in a thin film / process engineering environment. Must include both design and hands-on experience working with coating systems Optical fabrication knowledge a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and thin film design software Demonstrated strong, effective communication and organizational skills Other Skills: Team player, able to balance manufacturing priorities with developmental priorities Ability to communicate to all levels, both up and down Ability to function independently with minimal supervision Self directed and detail oriented with ability to manage and organize multiple priorities Citizenship Requirements Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder. Requirements
