With dsm-firmenich, you can leverage the breadth of our organization to gain unparalleled expertise and shape a successful career while transforming sensory experiences globally.  Your key responsibilities: Work with a small team within the larger Science and Research organisation dedicated to the design and implementation of cell-based assays that characterize the interactions of small molecules and G-protein coupled receptors Use understanding of molecular biology and cell biology to identify gaps and iteratively improve existing methodologies Continuously assess external advancements to maintain dsm-firmenich capabilities at the forefront of innovation Analyze, interpret and communicate data as part of a cross functional team Amplify your contribution by building a holistic knowledge of olfactory neuroscience and the consumer flavor and fragrance landscape Contribute to a progressive scientific culture through humility, transparency, and implementation of modern practices including automation, computational data analysis, and use of artificial intelligence

Requirements

  • BS in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Cellular or Molecular Biology or related field with 1+ years of experience in industry R&D laboratory. Advantageous experiences include MS in indicated fields
  • Technical competencies in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or cell biology. Advantageous experiences include assay development, cell line engineering, receptor signaling pathways, G protein-coupled receptors, high-throughput screening
  • Experience with data analysis and programs such as GraphPad Prism as well as an ability to present your findings. Advantageous experience include data science paradigms such as literacy in Python and advanced statistics
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot suboptimal methodologies and/or technical equipment. Advantageous experiences include those with automated liquid handling and microscopy
  • A willingness to try new things, learn from mistakes, and be comfortable with flexibility during sprints while maintaining optimism and vision for the long term goals
  • A curiosity to understand how the sense of olfaction impacts how the world smells and tastes on a daily basis
