About The Position

As part of the Washington DC Uplink Control Center, you will oversee advanced uplink operations and system reliability. Senior Technicians provide operational leadership, coordinate complex routing and redundancy scenarios, and mentor junior team members while maintaining world-class service for millions of subscribers. Senior Uplink Control Center Technicians will oversee daily uplink operations, ensuring optimal performance of RF and IP-based systems. You’ll manage complex signal routing, switching, and redundancy across satellite and terrestrial systems while leading real-time troubleshooting for broadcast-impacting issues. In this role, you will provide mentorship, guidance, and training for junior technicians, document incidents and corrective actions, and collaborate with engineering and network operations teams to maintain and optimize system configurations. Through advanced knowledge of Uplink Distribution, Conditional Access, Data Service and Metadata Systems, Senior Uplink Control Center Technicians help sustain SiriusXM’s nationwide broadcast network and uphold the highest standards of audio delivery. Senior Uplink Control Center Technicians will oversee daily uplink operations, ensuring optimal performance of RF and IP-based systems. Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience in technical operations, satellite uplink, or broadcast environments.
  • Associate degree in Broadcast Engineering, Telecommunications, or Electronics preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting live, mission-critical broadcast systems.
  • Ability to lead by example and mentor in high-pressure environments.
  • Availability to support a 24/7 facility, including holidays and weekends.
  • Advanced understanding of satellite uplink and broadcast infrastructure, including RF systems, audio and metadata encoding, and encryption
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, or similar tools for incident management
  • Proficiency with baseband and IP signal routing, Linux, and web-based monitoring tools
  • Advanced knowledge of Ops Genie, ELK, or Splunk for monitoring and alerting
  • Familiarity with Uplink Distribution and Conditional Access Systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative across engineering, network, and operations teams
  • Displays initiative, accountability, and composure during live challenges
  • This position requires the use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As required by ITAR, to perform this position you must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee
