About The Position

Our Advanced Innovation & Technology (AI&T) teams at Edwards harness imagination and resourcefulness to create solutions for patients many years into the future, shaping the future of structural heart technology. The Global Operations & Quality team ensures products are delivered to patients with cardiovascular disease, partnering cross-functionally with manufacturing operations and sales teams. This role supports cutting-edge engineering work in the medical device advanced technology space, contributing to innovative solutions that improve patient care.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent or technical degree/certificate with 2 years previous experience in R&D Lab and/or medical device experience required.
  • 4 years related experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
  • Problem solving methodology, root cause analysis, and GDP (Good Documentation Practices).
  • Good computer skills, including usage of MS Office Suite.
  • Substantial understanding of equipment in a lab environment (Keyence & Instron experience preferred).
  • Ability to perform more complex troubleshooting.
  • Ability to identify problems and relevant issues in straightforward and more complex situations, assessing using standard procedures.
  • Ability to use a wider range of manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment; use tools such measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, drawings, schematics and carry out assembly instructions.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to lab and/or clean room medical device manufacturing.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision, and with other departments.
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting a wider range of engineering activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly under minimal supervision of Engineers; and may propose technical solutions.
  • Building more complex prototypes, sub-assemblies, and preparing feasibility test units, samples, and/or chemical solutions.
  • Performing operational test and identify failure modes on systems and equipment; may propose technical solutions.
  • May build prototypes for physician demonstration.
  • Performing more complex work using drawings, diagrams, written and verbal instructions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Collecting and documenting test data.
  • Ordering and maintaining lab supplies and equipment.
  • Operating a wider range of lab equipment including set-up, clean-up, break-down, and re-assembly.
  • On time arrival to work, regular attendance without excessive absenteeism, and working a full 8 hour or longer work period.
  • Other incidental duties as assigned by Management.
