About The Position

Based in Norfolk, VA, you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join NCIA CIS Support Unit (CSU) Norfolk (USA) which is responsible to manage, deliver and maintain assigned Communications and Information Systems (CIS) products and services for Agency customers during peacetime, crisis and war throughout its assigned AOR and as otherwise directed. As the local service provider and Service Management Authority for SACT and JFCNF it supports the NCIA in delivering secure, reliable end-to-end services under the Enterprise Service Delivery Model (ESDM). We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Senior Technician (Cyber Security) who will take on the following roles and responsibilities: Information Security: Implement and maintain security measures aligned with organizational policies and risk assessments. Identify risks, suggest countermeasures, and investigate security breaches to strengthen defenses. Information Assurance: Assess information systems to ensure compliance with organizational policies. Conduct risk assessments, manage treatment plans, make accreditation decisions, and maintain accurate records of security-related actions. IT Infrastructure: Contribute to routine maintenance, installations, and operational procedures while monitoring infrastructure performance. Ensure systems run smoothly by resolving issues or escalating them when needed. Vulnerability Assessment: Perform routine vulnerability scans using automated tools to uncover system weaknesses. Document findings and escalate critical issues to improve security effectiveness. Information Security Administration: Manage access controls for firewalls and endpoints, coordinate user access, create periodic monitoring reports, and perform system backups to support operational security. Information Technology (IT) Security Policies: Help research and implement IT security policies. Assist in identifying critical security issues, ensuring policy implementation, conducting regular reviews, and generating reports for senior management. Requirements

  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 2 years post-related experience. Or a secondary educational qualification with 4 years post-related experience.
  • Practical experience of implementation and maintenance of cyber security systems within a large organization.
  • Working experience administrating and monitoring cyber security software.
  • Good understanding of cyber security systems and the ability to work independently to solve problems.
  • Working experience troubleshooting technical issues and providing technical support to end-users.

Nice To Haves

  • 0731- NATO COMPUSEC Practitioner Level 1.
  • 0732- NATO COMPUSEC Practitioner Level 2.
  • 0280- NATO CIS Security Officer.
  • Security Professional certification (CEH, GIAC, ISC2, or other relevant certification).
