Role We are looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join the Technical Publications department. This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA three days a week, reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Publications. You will help deliver a growing portfolio of capabilities in threat prevention and business enablement by turning complex technical information into clear, effective documentation. Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical writing experience, supported by U.S. citizenship and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated leadership through mentoring and the ability to influence cross-functional teams and project outcomes without formal authority
  • Technical expertise in REST API documentation, with deep hands-on proficiency in OpenAPI Specification (Swagger) and JSON
  • Advanced workflow management using JIRA and Confluence to track, manage, and deliver documentation projects
  • Strategic, audience-centric approach to content, ensuring all documentation is written in direct context with the target user's specific needs and technical level

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in writing online help, knowledge base articles, and working in Agile environments
  • Familiarity with network and/or cloud security, web-based or mobile products
  • Hands-on experience with HTML5/CSS

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex technical information into high-quality documentation and UI text—including release notes, tooltips, and error messages—tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Enhance documentation usability and clarity by integrating strategic graphics, illustrations, and visual aids
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with SMEs in Engineering, Field Support, Sales, and Product Marketing to ensure technical accuracy and content relevance
  • Drive user experience by establishing documentation standards, style guides, and terminology to ensure consistency across all platforms
  • Lead and mentor the technical writing team while overseeing project scheduling and management to ensure the timely delivery of all documentation initiatives
