About The Position

KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities, with work impacting national security. KBR is seeking a highly experienced technical professional to support a U.S. Government program office focused on acquiring next-generation ground-launched counter-air capabilities. This role involves providing independent technical evaluation and program support for the air segment (in-flight performance) of missile systems, including command, control, and communications (C3), data links, seeker performance, and kill chain integration. The specialist will assess contractor designs, identify technical risks, research relevant technologies and comparable systems, and inform key program decisions regarding engagement effectiveness and system performance in operational environments. Candidates may be considered at the Senior or SME level based on experience and technical depth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in missile systems, air defense systems, or closely related domains
  • Hands-on experience with in-flight missile performance, such as C3, data links, seekers, guidance, kill chain integration, flight testing, or operational evaluation
  • Experience supporting system development, test, fielding, or operational evaluation of complex weapon systems
  • Ability to independently assess technical issues, identify risks, and provide actionable recommendations in support of Government decision-making
  • Strong understanding of data link architectures, system interfaces, and developmental and operational testing
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to brief technical findings to Government and military stakeholders
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting air defense or missile programs (e.g., Patriot, NASAMS, or similar systems)
  • Background supporting flight testing at Eglin Air Force Base, White Sands Missile Range, or similar test locations
  • Experience with tactical data links, seeker technologies, and engagement modeling and simulation
  • Familiarity with contested electromagnetic environments and resilient communications architectures
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), digital engineering, or advanced kill chain architectures
  • Prior experience supporting a Government program office or acquisition organization

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key technical resource for air-segment and in-flight aspects of ground-launched counter-air systems, including C3, data links, seekers, and engagement performance.
  • Evaluate contractor missile designs, guidance approaches, data link architectures, and kill chain integration; provide objective technical assessments and recommendations.
  • Evaluate guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) approaches and their impact on engagement performance.
  • Assess system interfaces and Interface Control Documents (ICDs), ensuring alignment across missile, launcher, and C3 elements.
  • Support and participate in technical reviews, with emphasis on in-flight performance, system integration, and operational effectiveness.
  • Research comparable ground-launched missile and air defense systems across the Department of War and industry to identify relevant approaches for command and control, data links, seekers, kill chain integration, engagement timelines, and flight test strategies.
  • Assess end-to-end kill chain performance, including timelines, latency, targeting, tracking, and engagement effectiveness.
  • Contribute to development and execution of test strategies, including hardware-in-the-loop, flight testing, seeker validation, and operationally representative scenarios.
  • Evaluate system performance in contested or degraded environments, including resilience of C3 and data links.
  • Assess performance in contested electromagnetic environments, including electronic attack, protection, and countermeasure considerations.
  • Evaluate integration of sensor data and tracking solutions supporting engagement quality and targeting accuracy.
  • Identify and assess technical risks related to in-flight performance and kill chain closure; recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support analysis of flight test data and operational assessments to inform Government decisions.
  • Review modeling and simulation approaches used to evaluate system performance and inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with broader team members to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Develop and deliver technical briefings, assessments, and decision support materials for Government stakeholders.
