About The Position

Supports commissioning activities by guiding teams, interpreting technical requirements, and ensuring safe, accurate, and reliable execution of system testing and documentation. Coordinates and executes hands‑on laboratory testing of high‑voltage PAC systems and IEC 61850 schemes, training technicians on proper testing methods, system validation, and troubleshooting techniques prior to field deployment. Interprets and explains engineering designs, electrical drawings, and equipment technologies, including substation apparatus and Alternating Current/Direct Current (AC/DC) station service systems, while supporting technicians with clear technical guidance and problem‑solving instruction. Analyzes and evaluates equipment test results with technicians, analysis of findings, resolving discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions to ensure commissioning accuracy and system readiness. Maintains and drafts comprehensive project documentation, including logs, Request for Information (RFIs), and discrepancy reports, while coaching technicians on proper documentation practices and supporting cross‑functional coordination with engineering and management teams. Serves as a subject matter expert by guiding and advising commissioning teams, developing and implementing technical direction for greenfield and brownfield projects, and supporting peers and technicians in understanding design intent and executing complex tasks. Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex issues that exceed frontline support capabilities. Act as a liaison between technical teams and non‑technical stakeholders to ensure clear communication, accurate problem understanding, and effective solution delivery. Trains and supports end users and technical staff on tools, processes, and technologies while reinforcing safety and Human Performance Improvement (HPI) practices by teaching pre‑job briefs, hazard analysis, and proper application of HPI tools to ensure safe, consistent, and effective work execution. Lead or support system implementations, upgrades, and maintenance to ensure functionality, continuity, and optimal performance. Demonstrates and reinforces adherence to company policies and procedures within the team to foster a culture of accountability and compliance. Coordinates and supports the execution of restoration tasks and preparedness exercises to ensure the team’s effective emergency response. Takes initiative to perform supplementary responsibilities within scope of expertise to enhance team performance and adaptability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical field from an accredited university. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • 3 years of technical experience related to Commissioning preferably in an Electrical Utility Industry or at least 1 year of experience performing a previous position as Specialist role.
  • Experience in team coordination, task delegation, and performance management (directly or indirectly).
  • Technical experience related to electrical power equipment.
  • Good knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline for maintenance, testing, installation or service.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics and use basic test instruments.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of technical experience related to Commissioning in Electric Utility Industry and at least 3 years of experience performing a previous position as Lead, Team Leader or Specialist role.
