About The Position

SENIOR TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER Summary The Walt Disney Studios is a global leader in entertainment, producing iconic films and franchises across Disney Motion Picture Productions, Marvel Studios, 20th Century Studios, Searchlight Pictures, and Lucasfilm. Studio Technology builds scalable and secure solutions that power the studio’s creative and operational ecosystem. As part of the Studio Technology Program Management team, the Senior Technical Project Manager leads complex, cross-functional initiatives and product development across production, data, and technology domains. This role blends project management expertise, technical understanding, agile leadership, product, and operational rigor to deliver high-impact solutions that support Disney’s cinematic storytelling.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical program or project management experience.
  • 5+ years managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proven success delivering large-scale, complex, and data-focused technology initiatives.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams (e.g., developers, architects, infrastructure, SREs, developers, storage engineers).
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple initiatives under pressure.
  • Expertise with project management and workflow tools (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, LucidChart, Miro).
  • Strong executive-level communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent meeting facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related technical discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in media, entertainment, or studio/production environments.
  • PMP or Scrum Master certification.
  • Consulting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple concurrent, complex technology initiatives across their full lifecycle, including intake, use-case definition, scope, planning, execution, and post-mortem.
  • Coordinate recurring operational activities for production operations, including tracking tasks, documenting completed hours, and supporting resource planning with leadership.
  • Manage initiatives related to product development; support creation of product roadmaps, requirement gathering sessions, testing, and rollout of products/features.
  • Manage work through scrum, waterfall, and Kanban methodologies; lead all sprint ceremonies and ensure team throughput by removing blockers.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, documentation, artifacts, and status reporting, including timelines, milestones, budgets, risks, and issues.
  • Provide strategic risk assessment, mitigation planning, and escalation management.
  • Monitor resource allocation and time tracking; identify gaps and staffing needs.
  • Use business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI) to create dashboards, analyze KPIs, and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead portfolio reviews to report on progress, risks, resource utilization, and alignment with objectives and key results (OKRs).
  • Drive quarterly planning, including priority setting, OKR development, capacity planning, and metric creation.
  • Develop technology roadmaps aligned with organizational strategies.
  • Identify and resolve team, process, or tooling inefficiencies; design and implement optimized workflows and improvements.
  • Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to understand needs and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, compelling presentations and business cases for leadership.
  • Manage and mentor Junior Project Managers and Project Managers.
  • Establish and refine project management best practices, processes, reports, and dashboards.
  • Program-manage related initiatives to drive alignment toward shared OKRs.
