About The Position

The Akamai Inference Cloud team is part of Akamai's Cloud Technology Group. We design, implement, deploy and operate AI platforms that enable customers to run inference models and developers to create AI applications with unmatched performance, compliance, and economics. As a Senior Program Manager Technical Lead, you will require deep technical understanding of AI/ML systems, good organizational and program management skills, and experience leading large-scale technical programs.

Requirements

  • Have 8 years of experience in technical program management with proven track record of delivering complex distributed systems or AI/ML platforms or it's equivalent.
  • Have people management experience, recruiting, growing, mentoring, performance managing direct reports and being accountable for their work.
  • Demonstrate deep technical understanding of AI inference, containerization, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures to effectively lead technical discussions.
  • Show expertise in program management methodologies, risk management, and stakeholder communication with ability to adapt to different audiences.
  • Have good organizational and coordination skills, managing multiple complex programs simultaneously with competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Demonstrate leadership through influence, building relationships across teams, removing blockers, and driving programs to successful completion.
  • Possess experience with AI/ML product development lifecycle and MLOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Building and scaling a world-class program management team from the ground up, recruiting top talent in AI infrastructure and ML program operations.
  • Leading end-to-end program planning and execution for major platform initiatives, coordinating across engineering, product, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Defining technical roadmaps and milestones, breaking down complex projects into deliverable phases while managing dependencies and risks.
  • Driving cross-functional alignment on priorities, timelines, and resources, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders and leadership.
  • Establishing program metrics and tracking mechanisms, monitoring progress, identifying blockers, and driving resolution of issues.
