About The Position

Blue Canyon Technologies, RTX's small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider, is solving some of the toughest challenges in space. Our components and bus platforms have completed missions ranging from very-low Earth orbits to lunar and interplanetary journeys at a fraction of the cost of traditional space systems. We support premier defense, commercial and civil organizations including the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, NASA, MIT Lincoln Lab, the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, University of Colorado and more. Join our innovative and dynamic company as we build, test and operate the small spacecraft of the future. Position Purpose: The Senior Technical Product Manager drives the technical direction, planning, and execution of BCT’s Attitude Determination and Control Systems while working closely with PMs and TPMs of related components like star trackers, wheels, torque rods, and sun sensors. This role owns the product roadmap, assists technical proposal efforts, and aligns engineering execution with customer needs and business goals. Acting as the voice of the customer, the Technical Product Manager ensures that technical decisions deliver both near-term program success and long-term product value. This role is for someone who is comfortable being the connective tissue between customers, engineering, and the business. You take ownership of product direction naturally, especially when priorities are competing or the path forward isn’t obvious. You ask the right questions early, frame tradeoffs clearly, and help teams converge on decisions that make sense both technically and strategically. You are comfortable leading through influence by aligning stakeholders, shaping priorities, and giving engineers the context they need to execute well. You care about building products that are relevant, repeatable, and valuable over time, and you take pride in translating customer needs and market signals into clear roadmaps that enable teams to focus and deliver.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant engineering experience; Master’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years
  • Demonstrated experience owning or significantly influencing a product or subsystem across multiple programs
  • Strong understanding of the spacecraft product lifecycle from concept through qualification, production, and sustainment, including technology readiness levels (TRLs)
  • Proven ability to define product scope, priorities, and tradeoffs balancing performance, cost, schedule, and risk
  • Experience leading or contributing technical content for proposals, including requirements definition, ROMs, schedules, and risk posture
  • Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Business Development, Program Management, and Operations to align technical execution with business goals
  • Demonstrated capability to lead technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders, clearly articulating design intent, roadmap direction, and risk
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, actionable technical and planning artifacts
  • Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and make sound, risk-based decisions

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of direct product development, technical product management, or technical team leadership experience
  • Experience with ADCS systems and related components like star trackers, reaction wheels, control moment gyroscopes, torque rods, and sun sensors
  • Experience developing and managing configurable or variant-based products across diverse customer needs
  • Demonstrated ability to perform and interpret trade studies, parametric analyses, and evaluations of emerging technologies
  • Experience collaborating closely with customers to define needs and shape competitive technical solutions
  • Familiarity with procurement artifacts such as specifications, statements of work, and subcontract technical inputs
  • Hands-on experience supporting demanding flight programs, including schedule pressure, integration challenges, or customer-driven changes
  • Comfort working with modeling, simulation, or analysis tools; experience with MATLAB or Python preferred
  • Experience using planning and tracking tools such as JIRA or similar
  • Demonstrated “figure it out and get it done” mindset when facing incomplete data or evolving requirements

Responsibilities

  • Own the full product lifecycle of satellite components and subsystems from concept through qualification and production, ensuring alignment with strategic roadmap and customer needs
  • Act as the technical Voice of the Customer by incorporating customer feedback, mission requirements, and market trends into the product roadmap and technical priorities
  • Assist engineering proposal efforts, including technical solutioning, schedule planning, risk identification, and coordination with cross-functional leads
  • Drive product-level trade studies that balance performance, cost, manufacturability, and mission goals
  • Facilitate early-phase technical planning: define configurable architecture, requirements, and qualification scope in coordination with systems engineering
  • Collaborate across internal teams to scope IRAD and CRAD investment opportunities aligned with long-term technical and business objectives
  • Lead customer technical exchanges, reviews, and decision meetings; communicate status, risk posture, and product evolution clearly and credibly
  • Provide technical guidance across product lines to ensure consistency in interface definition, system architecture, and design intent
  • Support new and modified product designs by coordinating verification strategies, modeling needs, and test approaches with responsible engineers
  • Assist with internal product support activities (e.g., debug triage, sustaining reviews) as needed to maintain customer satisfaction
  • Support onboarding and alignment of Level 1/2 engineers; model clear ownership and technical rigor in execution
  • May include personnel management responsibilities
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Benefits
