About The Position

Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase due diligence, planning, concept development, restoration, alteration, extension, and implementation of creative, functional, and sustainable building designs and/or construction of projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include conceptually visualizing projects, preparing drawings, specifications, budgets, and construction documents, developing and presenting design proposals, and managing client relationships. Provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future-ready opportunities. Provides leadership with ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural integrity, and occupancy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, engineering, project management, construction management, business, or related field;
  • A minimum of 10 years demonstrable experience managing large projects;
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced engineering environment;
  • Knowledge of and practical experience with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes;
  • Familiar with structural systems integration and all associated systems commissioning standards;
  • Familiar with WMATA standard processes and procedures;
  • Experience with writing and verbally expressing technical information;
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365® applications, AutoCAD and Procore; and
  • Ability to obtain OSHA-10 Construction certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and integration management support during project implementation;
  • Assist WMATA in Start-up and Acceptance Plan oversight;
  • Oversee preparation of the Safety Certifiable Items List (CIL) with close coordination with WMATA SAFE;
  • Coordinate with WMATA Transit Asset Management and review contractor-provided asset database for accuracy and completeness;
  • Coordinate with the WMATA Project Implementation Team on testing and commissioning, system integration, substantial completion and final inspections of Contractor’s work ensuring completion and compliance with specified requirements;
  • Review and ensure all as-built drawings associated with all work are complete, accurate, and provided to WMATA;
  • Assists WMATA with closeout of the GAEC and CMAR contracts, including the development of a Lessons Learned Report and other documentation as assigned; and
  • Manage other close-out efforts to include receiving and turning over spare parts/equipment, facilitating all O&M training, and completing contractual and/or financial closures.
