Senior Technical Intern - Tower Systems Engineering
About The Position
DRS RADA Technologies, a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, is focused on proprietary radar solutions and legacy avionics systems supporting the defense industry globally. The company is a global pioneer of AESA tactical radars for active military protection, counter-drone applications, critical infrastructure protection, and border surveillance. Job SummaryThis is a fully in-person summer internship located in Germantown, Maryland. We are seeking a rising senior pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. Interns will work full-time for a minimum of 12 weeks during the summer. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our Manufacturing Engineering team and gain hands-on systems integration experience by building assemblies, setting up tools/workstations, working with engineering, manufacturing, and quality on part and drawing issues, and contributing process improvements while observing integration and test activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Rising senior, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network
- Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with line balancing, time studies, and MTM methodologies is preferred
- Familiarity with World Class Manufacturing, Toyota Production System and Lean practices is preferred
Responsibilities
- Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
- Carry out basic work instructions that will help in understanding the fundamentals of the Company and also learn new things
- Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers
- Complete assigned tasks on time
- Gather and assemble data for engineers
- May be required to help in research in a particular field
- Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers
- Assist engineers with appropriate design details
- Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network
- Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Other duties as assigned
